Alphabet Sampler c.1976

I’m sure there are a ton of people out there working on this sampler (or maybe you’re all done with yours?  I got a little sidetracked after the K) but it is every bit as beautiful as I hoped it would be.  Alicia, you are a super-genius.  This is Alicia Paulson’s Daisychain ABCs Sampler, which I made from a kit—if you haven’t gotten one of Alicia’s kits, you don’t know what you’re missing—and I fell so hard for it, right away.  I thought the W was a little arduous, but it was worth it in the end.

The K is my favorite letter—something about that shape makes me think of Charlie Brown holiday specials, or maybe my fourth grade teacher, or, somehow, The Partridge Family.  I kind of feel a little proprietary about the letter K, like it’s mine all mine.  I’m even worse about my name, there’s almost an unwillingness to share it.  What, I’m not the only Kristen in the world?  Huh.

I magically had a frame to fit this all ready to go, so after an hour spent bending the ironing board with the effort of trying to press out all the wrinkles I’d put in this while working on it, I framed it up and hung it in the kitchen, where it looks completely, utterly perfect.  Alicia, I love it.  Thank you so much.
